"14 734 Dots Between" is a collaborative project that embodies the spirit of Paul Klee's notion that "a line is a dot that went for a walk." This project is a dynamic exploration of the space between two artists, Yoshi Ikea in Tokyo and Sue Pam-Grant in Cape Town. The title represents the vast distance between them, 14,734 kilometers, which they aim to bridge through an expanded drawing practice. By engaging in a dialogue-driven creative process, they are creating a new language, a new vocabulary that transcends geographical boundaries. Through their exchange drawings, Yoshi and Suzie are engaging in a psychodynamic, tactile process that blurs the lines between creator and creation. This process-driven form allows them to tap into the subconscious, exploring the nuances of their artistic expression and the spaces between perspectives. As they fill in the dots between their parallel lives, they are not only creating a joint representation but also navigating the complexities of their own creative identities.

A new chapter in their artistic journey unfolds in Tokyo, where Yoshi Ikea and Sue Pam-Grant will meet in person for a durational encounter performance on June 21st and 22nd. During this intimate ‘Happening’, they will create a new work through a physical exploration of their interrelational exchange, communicating solely through drawn marks, painting, and brushstrokes. The performance will be witnessed and viewed by a public, who will observe the creative process unfold in real-time, further expanding the dialogue and language they've developed through their performative collaborative practice.

Following the Tokyo encounter, Sue Pam-Grant will return to Cape Town, but their artistic conversation will continue unabated. The dialogue between Yoshi and Suzie will persist, fueled by their shared creative curiosity. As part of their ongoing collaboration, Yoshi will visit Sue Pam-Grant's studio, ‘Studio Gallery no.3 SPG’, towards the end of 2025 or early 2026, for further artistic excavations and performative encounters. Together, they will continue to excavate the unconscious self, pushing the boundaries of their unique creative process. This ongoing exchange will further develop their innovative language, which they've termed the "Phonetics of Love&soul" - a testament to the boundless potential of artistic collaboration and the human connection that fuels it.

東京での出会いの後、スー・パム＝グラントはケープタウンに戻りますが、芸術的対話は止まることなく続いていきます。ふたりの創造的好奇心によって支えられたこの対話は、ますます深まりを見せるでしょう。2025年末から2026年初頭にかけて、ヨシはスーのスタジオ「Studio Gallery no.3 SPG」を訪れ、さらなる芸術的探求とパフォーマンス的出会いを重ねる予定です。
